JESUIT KILLED TOGETHER WITH ANOTHER 100 PEOPLE, INCLUDING 2 PRIESTS (BRIEF, CHURCH/RELIGIOUS AFFAIRS)

A Jesuit of the Indonesian province was killed by the anti-independence militias in East Timor. As referred yesterday by the JRS (Jesuit Refugee Service) - thirty-four year old Father Tarcisius Dewanto was killed in a militia attack on the Suai parish, together with another 100 people, including two unidentified priests. For the moment there are no ulterior details. Father Dewanto was ordained priest this year. (BO)
